☺☾Nintendo Switch 2 thoughts. (Apr 2, 2025)☽☺

Look, it's no surprise I don't really give a shit about the Nintendo Switch 2. I'm going in blind but knowing the history behind Nintendo and their efforts to undermine themselves everytime they release a successful console, I'm not going in with high hopes this round. I dunno, maybe they're going to do something like a Splatoon game to hype up the motion controls, or announce an updated version of Pokemon GO to the polls exclusively for the Switch 2 lmfao.

The Console Itself:

Console Specs

  • 7.9in Screen Display: I mean it's cool. Bigger screen means better resolution. Idk why they'd go back to an LED screen after upgrading to an OLED, but either it's to save costs or they're going to make an OLED model for the Switch 2 in the future (which is really scummy btw!!)
    • *squints eyes* Wait a minute... Nintendo, you knew what the fuck you were doing when you showed that. (For context, IGN did an infamous review where they rated Pokemon Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire 7.9/10 because of the water. Here, they're playing a WATER stage in Mario Kart World while showing its *7.9* inch screen.)

  • 13.9mm Length: *squints eyes* Nintendo you knew what the fuck you were doing when you showed that. (For context, IGN did an infamous review where they rated Pokemon Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire 7.9/10 because of the water. Here, they're playing a WATER stage in Mario Kart while showing its *7.9* inch screen.)
  • 1080p Resolution With Handheld, 4K Resolution when Docked: You know that fan is gonna scream for its life playing Doom Eternal. Glad I get more pixels though? I mean, I never really played Nintendo games for the graphics but at least I can see what the hell I'm doing now.
  • Up to 120 FPS When Docked: I know for a fact that the Switch will be 60 FPS when in handheld and people are gonna bitch about that. I mean, it's cool I guess, but yeah. *UP TO* 120 FPS, not the minimum. The MAXIMUM. It's no Steam Deck but at least it's finally pulling its weight.
  • Switch 2 Controllers: They're magnetic rather than whatever the fuck the Switch 1 controllers were (rail-based?) It's cool, but I can see people accidentally breaking their switches trying to rip it off forgetting there's a button to detach it. (yk, like fridge magnets?) Anyways, they're probably gonna start drifting the same way the Switch 1 controllers did, maybe through sliding the joycons too hard, or just faulty design? Maybe both.
    • You can use it as a mouse which is supported for certain games... God, the E-Liter clips are going to be INSANE with motion controls. I suck enough as it is with button controls. I am NOT surviving the mouse control trenches.

  • 3D Immersive Audio: As someone who has a lot of trouble discerning what sounds are coming from where, I *WHOLE-HEARTEDLY* approve of knowing even LESS where my next hammer-wielding psychopath is gonna smash me. (but yeah, cool concept. idk, take it or leave it. :/)
  • Switch Kickstand: Fucking finally we get an actual kickstand. Weren't people using their memory card slot as a kickstand and breaking it because it wasn't actually designed for that? At least it's not an unnecessary accessory we've gotta pay $70 for.
  • Two USB Ports: Great. What the fanart needed. A front AND a back entrance. Anyways, good to know I can use my camera to show everyone my Hatsune Miku jar collection while using the other to play Doom with a keyboard.
  • 256 GB Memory: It's great they're expanding the storage, but that just means they're increasing the file size of their games. (which isn't a bad thing, just teeters on the balance of bloatware.) Anyways, glad I can still install *ONE* Call of Duty game from 2008 onto my Switch.
  • The Fan: Finally, they finally added a fan so everyone's switches would stop warping. How many lawsuits did it take them to fix that? Oh, yeah nvm. They threw it out and counter-sued everyone for lost profits. (The last statement was legally a joke.)

Console Additions

  • GameChat: This is going to be awful. Not exactly Xbox Live-levels of bad, but you know there's going to be at least one instance where a 12-year old calls someone a slur for getting spawncamped on Mincemeat Metalworks. (That's me btw. fuck them kids.) In all seriousness, I seriously doubt the microphone has enough noise cancelling to tune out the screams I utter as a result of the hand I stuck into my blender while playing Animal Crossing because I dropped my $60 single Joycon in there. And since GameChat requires Nintendo Switch Online, it probably doesn't work if you don't have it, or opens up the membership tab if you do. Either way is shitty tbh.
    • Imagine Discord but with Roblox-levels of Moderation.
      • You'll probably get banned for criticizing Nintendo lol. Otherwise I'll just stick to what I got. I don't play enough multiplayer games to be swooned by GameChat. It'll probably just make infodumping about my Animal Crossing islands easier.

    • Allows you to voice chat.
      • I think the built-in microphone will be decent enough, but if you want something good, just get the camera. You know they'll figure out a way to charge you for it.

    • Allows you to share your screen.
      • Other screens with you get dropped to 15 FPS so your Switch doesn't literally explode, and when your friend's screen gets expanded, the framerate doesn't increase, weirdly enough... Okay but seriously, why WOULD you be playing four games seperately if you're in a call with friends?

    • Allows you to video chat with other players.
      • The video chat probably requires the Nintendo Switch Camera or else you'll have the screen resolution of a windows phone. Yk, 4 pixels per inch of your face and all that. Say, actually... Where's that photo of 096 I had lying around...

  • GameShare: Fucking finally, the ability to share games just like the DS Download Play back in the day. You know for a FACT companies aren't gonna allow GameShare on their games unless it's some simple party-puzzle game like Clubhouse 52. (that they showed on stream.)
  • Switch 2 Camera: A camera accessory they had to make instead of making the built-in camer better. Idk about you, but the camera in the showcase looked fake as hell. Your camera will probably be a small box in the corner if you screenshare as well. Definitely no green-screening. Also, you better shoot me dead and empty the chamber times if you think I'll be using the camera in Mario Party. Also 2x, you know for a fact someone is gonna show some weird shit on the camera intentional or not.
  • Switch 2 Game Card: It's red, to differentiate between the Switch 2 carts. I mean it's cool I guess, but who wants to bet they won't boot if you put them into a Switch 1? (or maybe they have the switch 1 version? doubt it.)
  • Switch 2 Micro SD Express: I legitimately don't understand why they wouldn't allow you to use the Switch 1 SD Cards. Memory reading? Compability issues AKA Laziness? Corporate Greed? More than one or all of the above? Fuck it, get me an Ugly DK SD Card while you're at it.
  • Switch 2 Pro Controller: So... it's just the Switch 1 controller but with more buttons? Cool, let me fork over 70 bucks for this because the Switch 1 version is completely INCOMPATIBLE.

Announced Games:

  • Mario Kart World: A cool game in concept. I like the fact that the game is open-world now, so the game (hopefully) nails that feels like an open-world exploration game. The actual career mode is cool, however I am at a complete loss when it comes to how they'll handle Rainbow Road and DLC tracks down the road. Howevermore, this is yet another Open World Game TM who, outside of the characters you'd probably expect by this point... A majority of the main cast is *checks notes* common enemy fodder, like Goombas... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... KOOPAS, Shellcreepers (you remember the crabs from Mario Bros. (arcade)?), Cataquacks, the Bees from Super Mario Galaxy, and Penguins. This is probably just me, but... Where re the Piantas? Wigglers? King Bomb-Omb? Petey Piranha? I mean, it'd be cool if the SNES racers from Tour would appear but we both know that'd never happen. Oh well, I can at least settle for Waluigi's drip.
    • Edit: Did Peach have shorter proportions? That is odd, but I shall ignore it for now. What I will not ignore, however, is DK's fuck-ugly design that they're keeping.

  • Nintendo Switch 2: Welcome Tour: A tech demo for the Nintendo Switch 2 that shows you how to use them... which is paid. Why the FUCK would you pay for a tech demo? Why would you pay for information that should be easily disclosable? Did Nintendo seriously look at Astro's Playroom/Astro Bot and think "yeah, people will pay for a tech demo." because news flash: Only suckers with no financial incentive would ever fork cash to that.
  • Drag N' Drive: I mean it looks hella cool. I love the concept that it's a paraplegic basketball game. Still, not my thing tbh. Would play it if someone invited me to a round, tbh.
  • Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition I already have it on Steam so I have literally no reason to play it, but now Nintendo fans have a reason to play a peak fucking game (that's better than totk ohohoho~).
  • Hades II: Crazy how Hades I was PC-exclusive before coming to the Switch, and Hades II is Switch-exclusive before coming to the PC. I'll just wait for the PC version tbh.
  • Street Fighter 6: Not a "Street Fighter" fan. Happy for those who wanted it, though.
  • Daemon X Machina: To be honest, I thought this was a westernized Gundam game when the trailer started playing. Even still, "looks nice. won't play. not my thing."
  • Split Fiction: A game who's concept I think is neat. I did enjoy playing "It Takes Two" with my old friend group, but now I'd to find someone else to play this with. Consider me intrigued."
  • EA Sports: I'm not a sports fan. Call me when they release another Mario Strikers. (a good one)
  • Hogwarts Legacy: A problematic game from a problematic person from an-otherwise terribly written series, who's "groundbreaking feature" (spells) involve "move thing left" and "move thing right..." Who's plot involves you stopping a slave revolt (aka the goblin rebellions). That, when it launched, people of the LGBT community said NOT to support it, and streamers and even other protestors alike went "Fuck your feelings. We aren't giving JK Rowling money by purchasing the deluxe version of the game multiple times." And then complained when their fans turned away from them because their media illiterate brains forced themselves to play a game about rebelling against the opression marginalized communities, and being the one responsible for ensuring their continued oppression. Did I mention this is coming to the Switch? Yeah, fuck your feelings. :/
  • Tony Hawk Pro Skater 3+4: I was excited for this until they announced they were getting rid of the story mode in favor of the career mode from 1+2. Yeah, let's cut the main features of these games so we can be that extra 10% lazier. It's more than likely as a result of a limited development time given to them by Vicarious Visions. I mean, at least we're getting Doom Slayer... so, yay???
  • Hitman: World of Assassins: Wow, never thought NINTENDO would allow such a VIOLENT and MATURE game on their FAMILY-FRIENDLY console. I have no strong feelings about this. Just get the PC versions which are better overall.
  • Project 007: THIRTEEN YEARS. THIRTEEN YEARS WE HAVE WAITED FOR A JAMES BOND GAME. Anyways, this is a cool announcement. I just hope they don't copy Hitman's formula and give us something good. Maybe they'll try stick with Goldeneye 64's gameplay. (lmao no they won't.) or let us play as the other bonds? (too expensive, try again.) or at least a good game this time. (don't trust the reviewers. they all suck.)
  • Braverly Default Remaster: I loved the game back when I played it on the Nintendo 3DS. Agnes is also probably one of my favorite women, so uh... ... ... g g girls...pr...etty... Will wait for the Switch 1 release, though.
    • Edit: Turns out Bravery Default will use the Game-Key Card system. God, fuck that. My hopes for it immediately went down the drain.

  • Yakuza Zero: Director's Cut: Nintendo Fans can finally experience some peak content. Might buy it for the Switch 1, we'll see.
  • Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment: I was never really a Hyrule Warriors fan past the first entry. I mean, the story seems cool in concept, but you know for a fact that it's gonna decanonize itself just like Age of Calamity (AoC) did despite calling itself a "a story leading into Tears of the Kingdom" aka a prequel.
    • For reference on Age of Calamity's canonicity... AoC branches off into an alternate timeline that fundementally alter BotW's story. Like how Zelda asked the Champions THEN searched for the Master Sword in AoC, when Link already had it for sometime in BotW. Or the fact that Zelda/Purah hadn't discovered the Sheikah Slates yet in AoC, when, during the memories captured by it in BotW, Link already had the sword.

  • Deltarune Chapter 3+4: YEEEEES!!!! YEAAAAAH!!!! HOLY FUCK! WE'RE EATING GOOD TONIGHT!!!! CHAPTER ONE, TWO? TENNA IN CHAPTER 3? THE CHURCH IN CHAPTER 4? BILL CLINTON? ROCK BAND? BRUNETTE SUSIE? YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!!! ... FUCK OFF, RANDY.
  • Borderlands 4: I don't care about it. I liked the first two and hated how they butchered the story in 3 by forcing cutscenes unskippable and then cutting out most of them to not piss off the fans who just wanna shoot. This one scene could have saved the entire game (no it wouldn't). But yeah, If you ever feel stupid, remember that Gearbox cut THAT for "Figure it out, Lilith."
  • Sid Meier's Civilization VII: I think it's cool. I borrowed a PS4 copy from a friend as a trade for Civ VI back in the day and played through Cleopatra's route. Probably not my thing, though.
  • Survival Kids: Ah, yes. The game that crashed the stream when it was airing. I'll be honest, I didn't even know it was a reboot from the GBC. But, comparing the two games (Switch: 1, 2.); (GBC: 1, 2.) The Switch version looks so bland in comparison. That generic kid's game style everyone is so used to, nowadays. Anyways, not for me. Pass.
  • Enter the Gungeon 2: A lot of games lose their sauce when they make the jump to 3D, Enter the Gungeon 2 included. I don't know, mayb I'll play it on PC. Not right now, though.
  • Starseeker: Astroneer Expeditions: Seems like a kid's game version of Starfield (but good this time). Still not my thing tbh.
  • Cyberpunk 2077: Oh god, you know for a fact console war fuckboys are gonna use the Switch 2 version to bitch about the graphics. I love Cyberpunk, but the fanbase makes me want to find the nearest bridge and drive off into the sunset.
  • Final Fantasy 7: Remake: Integrade: Nintendo fans get to experience the PS1-era of Final Fantasy 7 by having the game split up into 3 games. Except this time, Square Enix is too lazy to remake the entire game so they're making you pay for each chapter.
  • Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess: Doesn't seem like my kind-of game.
  • Silksong: THE FUCK YOU MEAN THEY JUST THREW IT IN THERE LIKE IT DIDN'T MATTER???? WHAT? SERIOUSLY, WHAT? THEY JUST THREW IT IN THERE???? You can't just do that???? What???? It's real????? I literally lost my shit when it happened. Knocked over my instant fire and accidentally set the entire planet ablaze. I didn't even have time to process the fact that they gave us a fucking release date (2025) before my entire house burnt down and I was in the process of being charged for a crime that doesn't even exist yet.
  • Story of Seasons: Grand Bazaar: Never really was a farming game fan but I'm glad Story of Seasons (*cough* *cough* Harvest Moon) fans can get another yearly-released game for their shelves.
  • Goodnight Universe: A game about a baby with psychic powers and an evil corporation trying to steal you away. It's not my thing.
  • Two Point Museum: I was entertained by Two Point Hospital. Not enough for me to buy it myself, but I can wait to watch gameplay of it.
  • Wild Hearts S: Seems like a Monster Hunter-esque game. Not my thing.
  • Witchbrook: A social life RPG about a witch academy called Witchbrook. Made by the same people that made "Starbound" (never played it. seems like terraria in space though).

  • Puyo Puyo Tetris 2S: I love Puyo Puyo and Tetris, just not enough to buy the latest game. Maybe later.
  • Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma: Doesn't seem like I'd enjoy it. Ulalaka and Kanata are cute, though.
  • Marvel: Cosmic Invasion: I'd probably have a lot of fun with it. I'll just wait for the release on Steam though.
  • Star Wars: Outlaws: I liked Fallen Order but I'm burnt out on video games as it is. No thanks.
  • NOBUNGA'S AMBITION: Awakening Complete Edition: No thanks.
  • Fast Fusion: It seems like a spiritual successor to F-Zero which I love. I'll see if I can get a copy if I ever decide to get a Switch 2.
  • Shadow Labryinth: I've never really been a big fan of this, ever. Even back when the Secret Level episode dropped. Speaking of Secret Level: The two swordsmen look completely different. The former looks like some random mook you'd kill in the Legend of Zelda, while the latter looks like an alien. Both are brand assassinations, especially since this is marketed as "a game wanting to expand the appeal of Pac-Man to players who have never played a Pac-Man game" despite being nothing like it but in name alone. Simply talking about the game, I just want to forget it exists. The art style looks kinda bland, and you couldn't tell a random schmuck this was Pac-Man if it didn't have "Puck," whatever the hell that robot version of Pac-Man is supposed to be.
  • RAIDOU Remastered: Mystery of the Soulless Army: I prefer the "Raidou Kuzunoha vs. the Soulless Army" title to be honest, just sounds better. Regardless, I'm interested in how they'll be remastering it. I'm a big Atlus fan when it comes to the Persona series, and have copies of Soul Hackers 1 and 2, plus SMT 3's Raidou/Dante versions and the Remaster (worth it just for the voice acting), so yeah.
  • No Sleep For Kaname Date (AI: THE SOMNIUM FILES): I loved The Somnium Files and nirvanA Initiative when I played it. Favorite character is Aiba (i love monsters who can turn into women) and Tokiko (I love a woman who can absolutely just kill me. like the kind who will paint my blood all over the fucking walls and puts my brain in some fucked up flavor of ice cream). I'll make sure to check it out.
  • Reanimal: Made by the creators of Little Nightmares I + II. That's enough reason for me to check it out.
  • Fortnite: It's Fortnite. Of course they'd have it on Switch. Every platform (minus iPhone, Apple Fridge and Steam) has Fortnite.
  • Arcade Archives 2 RIDGE RACER: I was never really a racing guy so I'm not gonna get it.
  • Professor Layton and the New World of Steam: YEEEEES!!!! YEAAAAAH!!!! HELL YEAH! IT'S NOT PHOENIX WRIGHT BUT IT'S JUST AS GOOD!!!! YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!!!
  • Tamogachi Plaza: Eh, not a Tamogachi Fan. Happy for y'all, though.
  • Human Fall Flat 2: Not my kind-of game.
  • The Duskbloods: Some kind-of Bloodborne-esque 'PvPvE' game, whatever that means. The marketing makes it sound like a Souls-like Battle Royale, so... idk, maybe it won't suck. Then again, paying $500 for my Switch 2 so I can pay $80 for the game so I can pay $20 to play online sounds like a steal tbh (except I'm not doing the stealing).
  • Kirby: AirRiders: I never liked "Kirby: Air Ride." I thought it controlled horribly and generally pretty unfun to play. Hope they make it playable this time.
  • Donkey Kong: Bananza: I've always been a fan of Donkey Kong 64 (tbh kind-of prefer it over the DK Country series), but it's unfortunate that they're not returning to that formula. However, the destructible terrain for exploration and combat is a neat feature I didn't know I've always wanted.
    • Thoughts about Donkey Kong's Bananza Redesign: The fact that they're using the Donkey Kong '94 design is cool... Just doesn't mean I have to like it. My gripes with the design come down to pretty much just the eyes and the eyebrows. Rare!DK had this seamless blend of goofiness and cool, while Bananza!DK goes way too into the goofy and loses the cool factor entirely. Rare!DK had this "no thoughts, head empty" vibe with his brow lowered, that made him look dangerous but also friendly. Meanwhile Bananza!DK's head looks jarring, unfinished and frankly over-segments his head. The black void his eyes are sitting in look weird to me that could've been fixed by keeping the eye fur around it. The new design waters down the more exaggerated ape features and makes him feel more human.

GameCube Emulator For Nintendo Switch Online Plus Expansion Pack:

I mean, fucking finally. Took Nintendo long enough to add support for a console they supported for two entire console generations. They were so insistent on drip-feeding content that it took *checks watch* 8 years for them to dust off their Wii-era code and release it. Now the Expansion Pss is actually worth purchasing this time around. Still not paying for it, though. I'll stick to Dolphin.

GameCube Controller: Cool, but... Will it be analogue like the other controller? Or just straight-up digital like the Pro Controllers? Also they implied you can only use it for the Expansion Pass? Which, I mean, okay? But can I use it for other games? No? Okay.

GameCube Games coming to Nintendo Switch 2 Online's launch.

  • The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker You know for a fact they won't be releasing the HD remaster they made for the Wii U because of this. Imagine if they fix the speedrunning bugs for this version.
  • SoulCalibur II I love that they included this because it has the OoT Link, but I can't imagine how horrid the netplay will be...
  • F-Zero: GX: YEEEEES!!!! YEAAAAAH!!!! HOLY FUCK! WE, THE F-ZERO FANS, ARE EATING GOOD TONIGHT! WE'RE GETTING CRUMBS BUT WE'RE HUNGRY SO GET YOUR FUCKING FORKS READY. YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!!!
  • Super Mario Sunshine: One of my favorite Mario games ever. I just hope with the GameCube controllers (hopefully) being analogue, the game won't be butchered like they did with the Mario 3D All-Stars version.
  • Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance Another Fire Emblem Game TM. Pass.
  • Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness I fucking love Shadow Lugia and Shadow Pokemon in general, so I'm glad I'm able to play this. Oh, you mean on the Expansion Pass? Yeah, nah. I can play it elsewhere.
  • Super Mario Strikers: The only (good) Mario soccer game that exists. I love it. 🩷
  • Chibi-Robo!: I never was a big Chibi-Robo fan but I played the demo once on the 3DS and enjoyed it. Happy for the fans.
  • Luigi's Mansion: Probably my favorite Mario spinoff game (Thousand-Year Door is an RPG, I don't count it. shut up). I just hope they don't butcher it like they did with OoT on the Nintendo 64's launch on the Switch. Also hoping they don't fix the "Hanging Luigi" glitch.
  • Pokemon Colosseum: I love the actual colosseum part of the game where you can battle with your party in 3D, in what's basically Pokemon Stadium 3 with a story mode. I know that's reductive but it bangs. Slaps, even.

Minor Gripes:

  • No Streetpass: I get it, that was a one-and-done thing only for the 3DS, but the feature had so much personality in them with the Streetpass Plaza and its games. I remember vividly wanting to go out with family just so I could recruit more Miis to save the princess in "Save Mii" and finally getting another puzzle piece. But no, in an era where Nintendo pursues innovation over brand personality, it'd make way too much sense to bring that, flipnote or swapnote back.
  • No Themes: Themes were not announced, like how the Nintendo 3DS had custom themes. It's something that could really personalize your Nintendo Switch and allow developers to publish their own, but nope. We'll be stuck with basic black and white again for the next 8 years.
  • Breath of the Wild GPS: Where the hell was this back when the Nintendo Switch App released? Did they suddenly realize this idea during the Switch 2 or did they wait until the Switch 2 release to make money like they did locking fast travel behind an Amiibo for the Skyward Sword HD Port for the Switch?
  • Tears of the Kingdom Creation Sharing: Again, where the hell was this when the game released? Miis had a similar thing with their QR codes and Animal Crossing had a similar thing when it came to Dream Islands. Maybe it's my lack of technical experience, but was this really so hard to implement for the Switch 1 version> Or did not a single person on the development team just not think to suggest/implement such a basic concept before?>
  • No New F-Zero/Star Fox For the Switch 2: Yeah, I know Nintendo doesn't like those franchises (former because it'd compete with Mrio Kart, latter because they're incapble of doing anything else other than "Yet Another Star Fox 64 Remake TM.") But, A man can dream though... A man can dream.
  • No Kingdom Hearts Switch 2 version: With how absolutely terrible the cloud versions of Kingdom Hearts were, being PS4 versions of games based on PS3 hardware, you'd think a Switch 2 version would naturally be a good idea. But nope. Not announced. Fucking hell.

  • Major Gripes:

Pre-Order Invitations: I get it, limit the Switch 2 sales to prevent scalpers, but the way they went about it is just downright fucking stupid. Read the terms and conditions below if you'd like to read what you need to do to pre-order (as a premium customer), but seriously. Why jump through so many hoops for a CHANCE to pre-order? Is there a manufacturing shortage? Is your console only exclusive to diehard fans? Fuck off, scalpers, and fuck off you corporative enablers.

    • Premium/Priority Customer Requirements.
      • Have a Valid NSO Membership. (valid, i guess? gotta pay for a spot in line.)
      • Have a membership valid for more than 1 Year. (less valid? i mean, maybe it's for the families/diehard fans? what the hell?)
      • Share Data w/ Nintendo and have 50hrs of gameplay. (no seriously, WTF is this? play a game i've spent 60 bucks on, with a membership that's 20 bucks, and have over a year of support to my favorite corporation. god, this reeks of bullshit. where's my evoker, i need to use brave blade on arahabaki.)

    • Nintendo Switch 2 Upgrade Pack: Games with no content outside of improved framerates/graphics will cost ten dollars. Games with bonus content when you upgrade cost twenty dollars. Meanwhile, some games will get improved performance patches free of charge... ... ... Okay then, if some games will get free upgrades, but others require you to spend ten dollars on it, why the HELL should I be forced to pay for better graphics? That's a legitimately BAFFLING concept that can only be rationalized as corporate greed to its absolute extreme. I want devs to earn their paychecks, but SATANEL, spending 10-20 *PER GAME BTW* for basic features is such an insulting ask.
    • Games Cost $80 Dollars Now: God fucking damn it. "I knew this was gonna happen anyways, but NINTENDO doing it first was so out of left field." Be real, Nintendo is the richest company in Japan who milks Pokemon dry without giving them more time to cook. There's always paying the devs a fair wage, but video games as a whole are becoming what LEGOs are becoming: A commoddity who's only consumerbase are collectors (in this case, streamers who can already afford these games.) There is no way in hell I'm paying $70 for a controller, let alone $80/$90 for video games. I don't know about you, but Robbie Rotten had a point.
      • How was *I* supposed to know that Nintendo, the richest company in Japan, who hates giving their cash cow more time to make their games so they can pump out more TCG cards... The same company who sued a man for $1.2 million and demands half of all his paychecks because he modded his switch, who actually sued a mexican grocery store named Super Mario... would charge such outrageous prices for their games? Gee who woulda thunk.
    • Nintendo Switch Online (Plus Expansion Pass): GameCube has some of my favorite games of all-time. Luigi's Mansion, Super Mario Sunshine, Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, F-Zero GX (we eating good tonight)... but "I don't care what Nintendo adds, I am not paying for Nintendo Switch Online." Yes, yes, it's 50 dollars to get all the games you want. Fair point, I do love "Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem." Counterpoint: Let me buy games I fucking want and let me own them on my own terms. "We currently have no other ways to offer classic content in other ways = we're doing the bare minimum. shut up and give us your money or else we'll sue you."
    • Game Key Cards: So you're telling me... I buy a physical edition, only for it to be a key I have to use in order to download the full game digitally??? It's probably going to be used by companies to enforce even stricter DRM (which I hate btw) that requires both the game cart to be inserted and the game be launchable, instead of like... just having the game cart and being able to play the fucking game???? Then what's the point for making the cartridge??? To take up shelf space? For the NOVELTY of owning physical games? Fuck off with that shit. One way or another, the servers for these key cards will go offline, heirgo the money I spent will go right down the drain. And what about the people without wifi? Fuck them? Imagine a world where voided key cards become part of a second-hand market.

    • Final Thoughts:
