Nate's Science Center

One of the homes on the ground level in Lunarvale, Nate's Science Center is a much-needed break from the horrors of perfectionism that plague the other homes. Whether or not players visit it is to be determined, but what can be found may provide concerning to those who walk with open eyes.

Design

Nate's Science Center provides an interesting contrast between the rest of the homes, especially between Marianne and Brad, being much more science-and-technology-themed than the latter two. Things like fossils, space suits, books and electronic equipment are littered throughout the house just as much as actual trash and weed litter the slums of the town just beyond the massive stone walls.

It should be noted that Nate's Science Center also contains an abundance of metal furniture, nevermind the kitchen being similarly-designed to hers or even the bathroom which looks almost the exact same (save for a few differences which is why almost is bolded). Interestingly though, this is contrasted by the abundance of shelving and science equipment, which suggest an imbalance of home and work. Fitting, since Nate moved to Lunarvale to further his research on anomalous subjects and/or materials.

Interestingly, Nate's Science Center is the only home who's security cameras have been turned off. Whether this is due to Nate's absence, or simply due to the power being out in his home, is uncertain. What is certain, however, is to never enter the basement... You may find the results... unfavorable.

History

Nate's home was the third one created, after Marianne and Hilda, with the specific intention to explore a scientific aspect of Lunarvale. Nate's home creates questions, and through questions comes unlikely answers. Answers that... may never be answered, actually.

It should be noted that Nate's home wasn't always decorated with the Ramshackle wallpaper and flooring. This was done to emphasize the decay of an abandoned home, left untouched ever since his disappearance. Furthermore, the specific decision to use metallic furniture around the house was done to better fit Nate's technology-obsessed personality.

As of this current update (3.0), trash was added to certain areas of the home. This was done to make the home seem more 'dirty' and 'abandoned,' as if someone has been digging through his home for something. To what it is? is unknown...

Trivia

  • Nate's second floor library is a recreation of the same floor from the tree branch wreath home from Aika Island. I find it fitting that the science-obsessed character would have ties to the sciencey-based remake of the classic horror town.
  • Originally, Nate's basement was intended to have a portal using custom designs. However, I ran out of design slots by time I got around to it and didn't want to work around it (laziness, eh heh.)
  • If you visit Nate's home, you'll notice that there's roaches. Nate's Science Center is the only location with this aspect.
  • Maybe Nate's home had a fire, which explains the Ramshackle wallpaper and flooring. Or maybe the state of the portal disaster tore his house apart. Or maybe, his house is just old. Who knows? ;)
  • Don't visit Nate's house at 3:33 AM or the portal will activate and Brutus comes out to kill you. If he enters a room you're in, a remix of "Found" will play and you'll get a game over. (wait, is this even true? who knows!)
