Lunarvale Police Station
An important building that is primarily operated by a rookie cop named Barney and his associates. This is intended to be the "tutorial" area of the island, serving as both an in-universe replacement for the police station and a major event that helps shape the rest of the store.
Design
The Lunarvale Police Station appears to be bland in nature, almost sterile. This is to emphasize the monotony of daily life, while keeping the rooms "same-y" in a sense. This is held even more true, with the back room being a remake of the lost and found area seen within New Leaf.
On top of using furniture from the Office, School, and Facility themes, the right room and basement both function as jails of some kind. The former being more of an interrogation cell and the latter being an actual jail.
Do note that the basement has much more of a cold, unsettling feeling than the rest of the Police Station, being that those who stumble upon the basement witness compliance through isolation. Just... don't get trapped in there. There's no way out... ;)
History
The Police Station was originally designed as a way to introduce players to the concept of exploring the homes. If a player would spend a majority of the time looking for tools, then it's possible they may skip houses entirely. So, it was made that the Player would have to find a pipe connected to the Police Station in order explore the rest of the island.
The layout of the Police Station has pretty much stayed consistent throughout Lunarvale's history, with the minor exceptions like the additions of clothing and pictures on the second floor. It's possible that in future updates, the characters seen within the jails may change, but for now, they rest in solitude.
